TRAVEL VENICE

Duri i banchi!

Scroll Down

One of the most romantic and busiest cities in the world. I will give you a few tricks to make the most of your visit without the tourist crowds.

Hottest month: July

Coldest month: January

During Summer, is very hot and humid, but it has a fresh sea breeze. Autumn and Spring are the best months to visit due to the pleasant weather and less crowded. In Winter, it is chilly, with dry cold wind and snow.

No matter, which time of the year you visit, bring an umbrella with you and a raincoat, as it rains equally throughout the year.

Travel Venice

Famous for its Carnival, happening every February, and beautiful masks, architecture, art and history.

Venice is one of the most iconic cities in Italy, located in the northeast of the country.

Upon arrival at the airport, there are different ways to get to Venice Island. One of the fastest and cheapest options is to get the Venice Airport Boats. And it is also a fun way to get around.

What to do?

Stroll the streets of Venice, it is better early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

The island counts with hundreds of bridges. However, please don't put locks on the bridge as other tourists do. There have been many bridges that have fallen due to the number of locks, which are heavy and were not meant to be there.

If you want to have a view of the city for FREE? head to the T Fondaco Rooftop, but make sure you book in advance.

If you are into musicals, before arriving, look if there are any musicals or plays that are in your preferred language.

I personally find the gondolas a tourist trap, they are pricey and there are many boats that are included in the public transport that gives you beautiful views of the different islands.

Two most see islands are the following:

Travel Murano

This tiny island is famous for its glass art and is a collection of 7 individual islands, all linked together by bridges.

Murano is much quieter than Venice and is a good way to avoid the crowds while enjoying the beautiful canals and architecture.

What to do?

• Browse the glass-art stores and showrooms. There is also a Glass Museum to visit.

• Visit the Glass Factory for a glass blowing demonstration. Don't get fooled by other 'free' glass blowing demonstrations that are offered outside shops, they are a scam. At the Glass factory, you can also book a workshop to try making your own glass art.

• Walk through the romantic cafes and beautiful bridges. Don't rush, as you might miss the ancient architecture of the buildings.

Travel Burano

Recognised by their fishermen and hand lacemaking.

This was my favourite island on my trip to Venice.

If you like photography, then try spending the whole day here. Away from the crowds, you are able to really enjoy the beauty of the canals and colourful houses.

Arrive by boat public transportation, and enjoy the journey there.

What to do?

Burano is full of small shops, restaurants and cafes. One of the restaurants recommended by deceased Chef Anthony Bourdain is 'Suzo', which has a signature risotto and homemade bread to die for (on the house). I highly recommend it!

You'll be fascinated by all the charming walks around the village. Save the space on your phone/camera to take many pictures around.

There is also a Lace Museum and tons of shops to appreciate this beautiful art form.

General Advice in Venice

Cards are accepted widely, however, is better to carry cash with you. The currency is Euros.

Make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes that are suitable for walking.

Venice is highly touristic, so be aware of your belongings and pocket-picking. The other islands are less-touristic, and therefore, you can be more relaxed.
